The Gratitude Garden is an app intended to help you maintain the gratitude practice of noting down three good things that have happened over the past 24 hours.  Most of us find our minds naturally gravitate towards the problems and negative events in our lives, and this practice helps redress the balance, making us happier and more appreciative of what has gone right.

Research indicates that gratitude journaling is one of the most effective ways to increase happiness.  Gratitude is also strongly correlated with pro-social behavior and self-worth, and reducing stress, materialism and negative self-comparisons.

Research indicates that gratitude journaling is one of the most effective ways to increase happiness.  Gratitude is also strongly correlated with pro-social behavior and self-worth, and reducing stress, materialism and negative self-comparisons.

You can do this with a simple diary, but it is important to write things down, rather than just thinking of them, because the action of writing helps reinforce the mind’s recognition of the positive things.  It is also good to try to add a bit of detail or “juice” to the good thing to reinforce the positive memory.
